What’s going on here? Well…

Here’s a quick summary of the original romance story (and, no, I’m not making this up.)

Mike resigned because his supervisor Doris (the woman on the phone—who also happens to be his girlfriend) was just about to fire him.

Confused and angry, he quits. Doris wanted to fire him because Mike’s no good at his job and therefore miserable.

After Mike leaves, Doris calls and gets him a construction job—with his uncle’s firm. He thrives at the new job. So he goes back to Doris; spanks her for interfering; and they decide to get married—pronto!

How to Say Goodbye

I rushed over to tell you how much I love you. But I guess I can wait until you finish making out!

That was then. This is now.

Love Hurts Like a Son of a B*tch

Love’s easy when things are perfect.

But what happens when fate trips you up? And kicks you (metaphorically) in the groin?

Do you stick around for better or worse? Or do you take off for greener pastures and studlier studs?

That’s the problem facing Jan in this 1961 story from First Kiss #19. (Click on images to enlarge.)

A Cat Hater’s Story?

 last130909Lucinda Becomes a Cat Lady

I recently posted a panel depicting a woman who’s breeding cats—even though her handsome neighbor hates them. A lot of fans have asked me how this romance turned out.

Frankly, this little saga is full of hilariously inappropriate moments too absurd to miss. So here’s the entire seven-page story in all it’s catty infamy!

This may be the only Gila Monster action-adventure-romance story in existence. Drawn by Ward King, it was one of many “Sheriff Sal” stories. This one originally appeared in Western Adventures #6, 1949.
