New Contest:
A Last Kiss Comic by You and Orson Scott Card!

Submissions: The deadline for submissions is now over and the seven finalists have been selected. You can vote and help select the winner until Feb. 13 at 11:59 p.m. CST. The winner will be announced Feb. 15.

Contest Details: Orson Scott Card wrote a fun (and suitably silly) caption for a panel of John Lustig’s Last Kiss art. The challenge for fans? Create some funny dialog that fit with Card’s wild caption and the art.

Prizes: The winner’s name and dialog will appear on the comic when it’s posted (Feb. 15) on GoComics.com, LastKissComics.com, WorldFamousComics.com and other sites featuring Last Kiss. The winner will also receive 24 Last Kiss note/greeting cards, plus a high-quality, color print of the winning comic–autographed by both Card and Lustig. Two runner ups will each receive a dozen Last Kiss cards plus bragging rights to being “that close!”

Contest Rules

Write new dialog and enter the contest as often as you like. In the event that we receive the same or similar dialog from different people, we’ll do our best to pick the dialog that is submitted first. Judging will be done by Last Kiss creator John Lustig and his decision is final.

All submissions become the property of Last Kiss Inc. Why? Frankly this protects us legally in case of disputes. And it allows us to publish the winning entry and other submissions we think might interest readers. However, if you need the rights back, let us know. In most cases we should be able to return the rights to you.

Please keep your dialog reasonably clean (PG-13 or so.) But mostly have fun!

Last Kiss contest! Vote for best fan gags!

Late last year I started inviting readers to submit funny dialog for some of my art. It wasn’t supposed to be a contest, but then I started thinking–why not? So I narrowed the submissions down to a handful of fun reader-written gags. And you get to pick the best one!

Vote quickly. The poll closes: Wednesday at 9 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. The winner gets a dozen Last Kiss note/greeting cards. Second- & third-place winners get half a dozen cards.

More “mini-contests” to come over the next few days!

What’s going on in this comic? It’s up to you! Suggest some dialog!

Rules: No prizes. No winners. No losers. And no deadline. This is just for the sheer silliness of it all.

For legal reasons, I have to tell you that all submissions become the property of Last Kiss Inc. That’s pretty standard for contests–except, of course, this isn’t a contest.

Please keep it reasonably clean (PG-13 or so.) But mostly have fun!

Disney Buys Marvel Comics…And I Have Some Fun!

DisneyMarvel20100101

Since Disney bought Marvel Comics today, I thought I’d reprint a comic I did recently for Comics Buyer’s Guide about the deal. Since I’ve worked for both Disney and Marvel, I couldn’t resist having a bit of fun with the merger. In fact, this art came from a DuckTales story I wrote (and William Van Horn drew) years ago. The dialog, of course, is new!

Last Kiss Now in German–Twice a Week

df45b321-5d40-4d95-CroppedSprechen Sie Deutsch? Lucky you! Last Kiss is now available in German. Every Monday and Thursday, newly translated Last Kiss comics will appear at: http://wvh.barksbase.de/de/topics/lastkiss/

My thanks to Gerd Syllwasschy and Peter Kowalewski who had the crazy (in a good way) idea to run Last Kiss in German on their site. They along with Constanze Maier and Richard Meyer are doing the difficult work of translating my silly English dialog into no doubt even sillier (in a good way) German dialog.

Danke schön! Danke!
