By the way, I titled this one The Queen’s Gambit—-inspired in part by the terrific Netflix series of the same name. As it turns out, I finished watching the last episode of the series tonight and it was even better than I was hoping for.

The series has more meaning if you know chess—-especially if you’ve gone to some chess tournaments. (I was chess coordinator at my kiddo’s school.) But it’s a terrific series even if you don’t know a rook from a bishop.

The original art as it appeared in FIRST KISS #20 (1961) by Vince Colletta.
